On October 7th the FHS Golf team took home the 2022-2023 NBIAA AAA Provincial championship banner. The team reclaimed the title of provincial champions after the victory in the 2020-2021 championship, followed by a defeat in last year’s 2021-2022 season by just one stroke.

“The team played extremely well with consistently good scores, the best being Brady Wood’s 2 under round which pushed us first for our second championship in our 4 years of playing together,” said Alex Cook, a 4-year veteran for AAA FHS Golf Team.

Provincials were hosted at the Mountain Woods Golf Club in Moncton: a traditional tree-lined golf course that challenges golfers of all ages, located minutes from the Magic Mountain Water Park.

The weather wasn’t optimal, but the team adjusted and ended up on top. “The conditions were cold, and the ground was kinda hard, so we had to focus on what club we were hitting, and make sure we had the right yardages. But it was a great tournament, all the boys were locked in and played their best,” said Aaron Partington.

The FHS boys have captured 2 Provincial titles and 2 Runner-up placements as a golf team over 4 years! All six members of the 2022-2023 AAA FHS Golf Team are seniors and graduating this year.

Aaron Partington shot an 80, and Brady Blacquier shot an 83. Alex Cook, Ben Nicholson, and Griffen Sears all shot 7 over par for 79, and Brady Wood finished with the top score of 70 and -2 under par, bringing the team home with 1st-place medals around their necks. Overall, it was a successful tournament for the FHS boys!
